Holly&Lil's Harris Tweed Sighthound Collars - wide at the front, narrow at the back - for sighthounds of all sizes

Holly&Lil's Harris Tweed Sighthound Collars are designed to be more comfortable on long, sensitive Sighthound necks from the tiniest of Italian Greyhounds to Whippets to the stateliest of larger Lurchers.

The Harris Tweed Sighthound Collar is cut so that it's wide at the front and narrow at the back. Leads are attached to a D-ring next to the buckle on the narrow part of the collar which means that when your dog is walking the wide part of the collar will sit on the front of their neck.

Harris Tweed is a unique and beautiful cloth, the only cloth in the world to be governed by its own Act of Parliament, and a timeless British classic, delivering effortless British style.

Sighthound Cut - designed for hounds with long, sensitive necks

  • Genuine Harris Tweed backed with super-soft calf leather
  • Sighthound cut is wider at the front and narrower at the back
  • D-ring to attach a dog lead sits neatly next to the sturdy buckle
  • Wide part of collar sits on the front of the hound's throat when walking on lead
  • Fastening tab holes are reinforced with metal eyelets to prevent the Harris Tweed from fraying, except on Size 1 Sighthound Collars which are made with a leather fastening tab only
  • Matching Harris Tweed & Leather Dog Leads also available

Harris Tweed Dog Collars are also available in a Classic Slim Cut (slim and straight - not recommended for Sighthounds) and a Classic Wide Cut (similar to a Sighthound style but the lead attaches to the collar on the back of the neck with the buckle at the front on the throat).

Choosing the right size collar

The sizes shown for our dog collars (e.g. 10.5" - 12.5" or 13" - 16") indicate the position of the first fastening hole to the last hole, not the length of the actual collar overall. Ideally the collar should fasten in the middle of the fastening holes on a collar when fitted correctly for your dog. Please see our guide to Measuring for a Dog Collar for detailed instructions on how to measure and fit your dog for a collar.

Harris Tweed & Leather Care

To keep the leather backing of the collar in peak condition, use a good quality leather balsam to treat the leather from time to time.

If your collar needs to be cleaned, rinse under cold or lukewarm water; use a mild shampoo if necessary, rub gently and rinse well. Pat dry with a soft towel – soak up as much water as possible. Dry naturally away from direct heat.

If your dog is treated with any topical medicines in the neck area, please do not put the collar on your dog for at least 48 hours - this includes when treating with "spot on" type flea/tick treatments. Some medicines contain strong chemicals that can affect leather - whether on a dog collar or on a sofa!

Sharp Nails Warning

Harris Tweed is a robust fabric but it is a woven fabric so please be advised that dogs with small, sharp, needle-like claws that like to scratch may damage the tweed, just as scratching any fabric with sharp, needle-like nails would.
