We are thrilled to launch Charley Chau's Utility Collection of tough, water-resistant, high-performance dog beds. The Ducky Donut Bed in our Dry Wax Cotton Canvas combines the sublime comfort of one of our most popular dog beds, with the performance of a tough dog bed for dogs who like to get mucky. 

Our Dry Wax Cotton Canvas is a high-tech evolution of one of Britain’s most iconic textiles - traditional waxed cotton, made famous of course by the Barbour jacket. Just like a traditional waxed cotton, our Dry Wax Canvas softens over time, taking on the patina of every day use, creases and crinkles, scuffs and marks, all the while wearing-in to feel like a familiar old friend. Unlike a traditional waxed cotton, our Dry Wax Cotton Canvas is machine washable - this is a tough, wipe clean dog bed that can also be be machine washed, right down to the ethically sourced feather pads inside the Donut Nest. 

Not all dog beds are made equal and our Duscky Donut Dog Bed has a donut nest filled with ethically-sourced feather pads so the bed will never lose its shape, teamed with our deep-filled Round Dog Bed Mattress. The large size Ducky Donut Bed requires over 45m of stitching to finish so while it looks on the face of it like a fairly simple, understated design, we have gone to extreme lengths [pun intended] to create a truly exceptional Donut Dog Bed.

The Dry Wax Ducky Donut is a tough dog bed paired with uber comfort - a brilliant choice for high-performance dogs who love to get mucky, whether that's from days working in the field or causing chaos in the local park.

Our ethically sourced feather pads are made in England and certified as collected as a by-product of the food industry and humanely sourced i.e. not collected from live animals, nor from the foie gras industry.

  • Ethically sourced feather pads in the Donut Nest so that the bed sides can be squished and squashed but will always come back to shape. Our Feather Pads have a feather-proof polycotton casing, and are fully machine washable.
  • Deep-filled Luxury Mattress – key to comfort in any dog bed is the mattress and Charley Chau’s deep-filled mattress is constructed like a sofa seat cushion with internal baffles (wall panels) that minimise fibre-migration, to prevent unwelcome lumps and bumps from forming, even after washing. Designed to provide fabulous comfort and support over time and made in England with a polycotton casing and insulating hollowfibre inside.
Washcare

Machine washable everything. The round mattress and the donut nest sides have removable outer covers. The covers and the the deep-filled luxury mattress and feather pads are all machine washable.

Free UK Standard Shipping is available on orders over £150. Worldwide shipping is also available for all products excluding any treats that contain meat or dairy ingredients.

Is Dry Wax Cotton Canvas waterproof or water-resistant?

Dry Wax Cotton Canvas is highly water-resistant, it repels everyday wet, muddy paws, splashes and light rain, and wipes clean in seconds. For prolonged exposure to very heavy rain or submersion in water, it isn't designed to be fully watertight. This is a genuinely tough, practical fabric for dogs who love to get mucky.

Can you machine wash the water-resistant dog bed and its Dry Wax Cotton Canvas covers?

Yes. Unlike most waterproof fabrics and waterproof dog beds that rely on a physical coating to deliver waterproofing, our Dry Wax Cotton Canvas is fully machine washable. The fabric can be wiped clean or the covers removed and machine washed on a 30 degree wash cycle.

How do I clean a Dry Wax Cotton Canvas dog bed?

For everyday mess, simply wipe the water-resistant canvas clean with a damp cloth. For a deeper clean, remove the cover and machine wash on a 30 degree wash and dry naturally.

Is Dry Wax Cotton Canvas the same as traditional waxed cotton?

Not quite. Dry Wax Cotton Canvas is a high-tech evolution of traditional waxed cotton (the fabric made famous by the iconic Barbour jacket). It's best suited to indoor use, boot rooms, utility rooms, porches, or covered outdoor areas — the water-resistant canvas handles damp paws and everyday spills brilliantly, but it isn't intended for permanent outdoor exposure to the elements.

Can I add waterproof dog bed liners to this water-resistant dog bed?

Yes, our anti-micorbial waterproof bed liners can ben added as an additional barrier to the Dry Wax Cotton Canvas dog beds but the Dry Wax Cotton Canvas is highly water-resistant and it's unlikely that you will need the extra waterproofing protection other than in exceptional circumstances.
